Good news for students in their quest for graduate jobs this year. BT has returned to the market having pulled its graduate scheme in 2009 and is looking to recruit for 133 graduate jobs to start at the end of next year.
BT faced fierce criticism for shutting its scheme last year with many commentators claiming it would be very difficult for them to re-gain the trust of students. Naturally BT refute this, pointing out that this summer they received 2,500 applications for just 10 roles.
Across The Times Top 100 graduate employers, very few companies completely stopped recruiting for graduate jobs with most simply opting to scale back their intake. Many felt that it would not only create a bad reputation amongst students but that it could also alienate careers advisors who play an increasingly important role on campus.
One thing is certain though - any addition opportunities to land graduate jobs at blue chip companies is a good thing. So well done BT on launching your graduate scheme and good luck to all you students who apply.
