James Dyson has just announced that he plans to double the size of his engineering team to over 700, creating a welcome boost for graduate jobs in engineering. The bulk of the new graduate jobs will be in mechanical and design engineers, two of the most popular disciplines amongst students.
Dyson is well known for his dedication to innovation and has increased the amount his company invests in research and development 4 times in the last five years. This has not only created a huge number of graduate engineering jobs but it also allows students to sample the cutting edge of their industry.
Politicians have made a great deal of noise about the need to invest in British enterprise and the success of Dyson reveals why. Through his hard work, Dyson has boosted both the wealth of the economy but also the prospects of hundreds of Graduates. His company employs over two and half thousand people worldwide and are only second to Rolls Royce in the number of patents they file…good news for aspiring graduate lawyers there too!
Talking about the new opportunities he's created for graduates, Dyson explained "I am extremely proud of the new technology developed by our engineers. With brilliant young scientists and engineers in our schools it falls to organisations such as ours to encourage this future generation. As the need for good design and technology increases, so does the need for creative and adventurous designers, engineers and scientists."
