Deloitte Interview Questions
If you’re applying for a graduate job at Deloitte in Tax or Audit, your interview is likely to follow the same basic structure. In your preparation you should pay particular attention to Deloitte’s Seven Competency Areas, as these are the qualities that the interviewer is looking for. They are:
Communication
Achievement of Goals
Commercial Awareness
Career Motivation
Planning and Organisational Skills
Adaptability
Problem Solving
What to expect in a Deloitte Graduate Job Interview
You’ll be asked to demonstrate a series of skills based on your past achievements and experiences. The Deloitte interview is quite structured and you will be asked for two examples to demonstrate each competency area that they assess you on. Questions may include:
> Give me two examples of when you gave a presentation.
> Give me two examples of when you have to make a decision.
> Give me two examples of when you have had to persuade someone.
> Give me two examples of when you were involved in teamwork.
> Give me two examples of when you were involved in a multi-task situation.
> How did you manage it?
> Why are you choosing Deloitte?
> Why are you choosing Tax? (or Audit)
> What interested you the most in the recent news?
In your first interview, you will have to demonstrate that you are the sort of person Deloitte wants working for them, that you know what Deloitte does, that you know what you will be doing in your service line and that you are aware of what your qualification involves. The Deloitte interview can take from 1 to 2 hours, normally lasting about 75 minutes. Try using the STAR method to structure your answers and ensure you’ve covered everything fully:
> Situation – what was the context?
> Task – what had to be done?
> Action – what did you do to achieve the desired result?
> Response – what was the overall outcome and how was this received?
