An integral part of local government since 2002 the national graduate development programme for local government (ngdp) combines your desire to develop and make a difference with local government’s drive to develop its future leaders and serve people and places better. Through taking on real challenges on the programme you’ll learn quickly and gather the skills and experience you need for a fulfilling career.
Over the two years of the programme you will take part in a range of work placements and projects across the local authority. These will be based within a strategic or corporate function, front-line or customer-facing service delivery area and a support service such as human resources, finance, information communications technology, legal services, etc.
