    • The Ultimate Field Trip

    • About the competition
The Ultimate Field Trip is a UK-wide competition BP runs every year. It’s aimed at undergraduates and Masters students. To take part, you’ll need to get a team of three people together and register here. It will challenge you to solve a real-world problem – one that could help us meet the world’s growing demand for energy safely and responsibly.

      Discovering new challenges
For you, it’s an opportunity to learn more about the challenges we face – and experience first-hand the scope and scale of what we do. From our first oil discoveries over a hundred years ago in the Middle East to today’s advanced oil recovery techniques pioneered in Alaska, BP has always operated at the frontiers of geography, technology and engineering. The Ultimate Field Trip gives you the opportunity to do the same.

      A prize like no other
First prize is an opportunity you won’t find anywhere else – a 6-8 internship. You will get a chance to join the teams working at our largest deepwater oil field, Thunder Horse in the Gulf of Mexico. While you’re in the vicinity, we’ll introduce you to New Orleans, the birthplace of Jazz and home to some of America’s best food and nightlife. You’ll also discover what BP is doing in Trinidad & Tobago by working with our operations there. And to make your experience complete, you could swim with stingrays in the Caribbean.

      The winners will also:
      > Work on a real project and make business decisions
      > Be mentored by BP professionals
      > Be fully paid
