Six weeks with Barclays is much more than a great way to spend your summer. It could also be the start of a journey that takes you all the way to the top of a global financial services powerhouse.
In the first instance, this is an opportunity to immerse yourself in our business and see whether what we do is what you want to do in the long term. But looking a little further ahead, if we decide we’re right for each other and you return to Barclays for our leadership programme, you’ll find yourself on the career equivalent of an express elevator to the top floor.
The programme
This year you can choose from our Retail and Business Banking Internship Programme or Functional Internship Programmes in Human Resources, Marketing & Products, Marketing Analytics, Credit Risk Analytics, Finance or Technology – Product and Process Development.
Whichever part of the business you join, and wherever in the country, you’ll spend your six weeks gaining invaluable commercial knowledge as you start to piece together the skills and capabilities you need to make it big in business. For our part, we want to see what exactly you’re capable of, so expect to be tested, stretched and making a real contribution from day one.
You’ll be well-supported throughout your time with us. Not only do we run regular events to show you precisely how a global organisation like ours works, but you’ll also be assigned a buddy (a recent graduate recruit who’ll show you the ropes). So by the end of the summer, you’ll have a clear idea of what we do and, hopefully, where you’d like to work when you graduate.
